Notes from the July 12 meeting

I am posting these for us as we are working on our objectives and such.
God bless
Dave

Here is a summary of important points from our July 12 meeting:

A) Vital question: What does it mean to be missional as a leader and as a congregation?

B) Assumptions:
1. It is better to be missional than inward-focused. Not missional is not healthy.

2. True spirituality combines outward ministry with inner spiritual health.

3. Missional is well-balanced.

C) Objectives:
1. Once again become a positive influence to change the moral climate of the community.

2. Instill in our congregations a shared vision for ministry to our community while maintaining the New Testament experience of the fellowship of the body.

3. As leaders, find a balance between ministry and spiritual health, and instill in our congregations that same balance.

4. Gain a sense of being able to show why outward focus is important.

5. Design an organizational model that is built around a philosophy of connecting to the community rather than maintaining a structure which enslaves believers to minutia.

6. Create a church environment intent on making disciples (discipleship as the core of all we do), both reaching out to make new believers and leading existing believers in spiritual growth.

7. As a leader, gain a better grasp of healthy processes of transition. Learn how to transition with the least amount of pain.

8. Learn how to live out impacting leadership that develops ownership of a clearer vision of congregational mission.

This is what I gleaned from my note-taking. If I missed something important, let me know.

Welcome

What does it mean to be missional as a leader and as a congregation?

That is the question we will attempt to answer.
